Chef's Path: 10,000 Hours to Culinary Greatness

Anders Ericsson did a study with people who play the violin.

He put them into three groups: the best players, the good players, and those who wanted to teach music.

What he found out was that being really good at playing the violin didn't just come from being born talented. It came from practicing a lot. The ones who wanted to become music teachers practiced for 4,000 hours. The really good violinists practiced for 8,000 hours. And the top-notch players practiced for more than 10,000 hours.

When we're good at something, it feels nice. But if you want to be really, really amazing, you need to practice for 10,000 hours.

During those hours, you'll have times when things don't go well and times when it's tough. You might even start to doubt yourself.

Becoming a skilled chef takes time and practice. It means working really hard for many hours, especially when the conditions are tough.

Just stick with it and keep practicing.
